Damp through brick wall

Posted by Jacquie Duncan, on
Hello, We have a damp issue when it rains coming through our brick wall in to our built in cupboard. It is causing what appears to be mould on our clothing and a very damp smell in the room. We have already consulted a damp specialist for ventalation solutions but we think that we would need to stop the water from getting through the bricks first?

Hi Jacquie, mold growth on the wall and on your clothing is a sign of condensation. If the water was coming through the wall it would carry salts crystals and these prevent mould spores. I would recommend improving the ventilation in the affected area.
