13 amp to 45 amp

Posted by mehul mehta, on
13 amp to 45 amp. I have a 13 amp plug socket used for a range cooker. I have bought one that requires a 45 amp socket. Can the 13amp one be converted to 45 amp?

Hi Mehul Your new 45 amp cooker will need its own dedicated circuit fed with a 10mm Twin and earth cable from the consumer unit via a 50amp mcb to an isolator switch. The cooker can then be connected to the switch either direct or by a connection plate behind where the oven will go. If you go this way you will need a 10mm cable from the outgoing side of the isolator to the connection plate. Get an electrician out to this as it isnt a DIY job. Hope this helps
