When is it time to get a new boiler?

Posted by Jeff Farr, on
My gas central heating system is 20+ years old, and has a poorly maintained Baxi WM70/4PF boiler. The boiler sometimes 'blows out' (often in strong winds?) and doesn't auto re-start unless the reset button is pressed. How do you decide whether it's time to get a new boiler, or persevere with getting this one repaired? Who should I trust to provide good quality advice?

Best advice of course from a gas registered engineer but also ask friends if they can recommend anybody they know but always get a few quotes not to many but enough to give you a generally cost . The new boiler will cost you now but will save you money in the long run .

I think after 20 years you should purchase a new boiler. There comes to a point where repairs become uneconomical and also due to the age of your boiler you run the risk of it being obsolete and therefor unable to retrieve parts for it.

What would you like to do now?
