Our Victorian garden wall had a big crack running right through it. We wanted to preserve the decorative brickwork and rebuild the broken section in the style of the original. Paul did a good restoration job in appropriate materials, using the old bricks from the wall where possible and reclaimed Victorian bricks of a similar type otherwise. We are really pleased with the result. He also took care to consult us to make sure he knew exactly what we wanted. We have a Victorian terrace so Paul had to take bricks etc through the house, but he arrived with a stack of dustsheets for our hall and kitchen and took care to keep any residue from the work to a minimum. He also checked over our house and did a few bits of repointing and repairing elsewhere while he was there. His prices were in line with others, so I've given him five for value, as he is clearly competent and experienced. I would hire him again.

Walls, bridges, archways, chimneys; everywhere you look there is brickwork! Here are a few different bricklaying projects that you may need a bricklayer for:
You may want a bricklayer to build a wall or repair a wall and carry out other brickwork on your home. Perhaps you have areas that need new pointing or repointing, to keep out the elements and ensure your property is well maintained. Remember that a good brick wall needs a good foundation.
Brickwork is a precise trade - pointing, repointing and bricklaying need to be done carefully and methodically to achieve a regular finish. A bricklayer will help you choose the right type of bricks for the project and will use plumb lines to ensure you end up with a neat looking, strong wall. A good bricklayer will be needed to build internal and external walls and they'll be able to give you advice on suitable materials, depending on the project.
It's vital to maintain pointing as it affects the strength and stability of your home's internal and external walls. Chipped or damaged bricks are vulnerable to frost and heat damage so it's important you maintain your brick walls properly.
Bricklayers can advise on the various styles of pointing and can match up repointing to your existing pointing.
You may want to use a recommended bricklayer for the following projects to gain peace of mind and a professional result:
