"The sleeper wall had sunken slightly and four or five of the joists needed packing to fill the void.They said they'd use slate, but it was just a large dense, man made tile they smashed into pieces and put in the gaps.They used bits and pieces on top each other,some weren't deep enough so they had to smash a bit more and try that, if it just fell out they tried a bit thicker pieces.....aaagh.I could have done it myself! I've made a vow ...next time I need a job done ,I'll research it properly and have a go myself,old as I am. Admittedly, the floor isn't springy now...but I KNOW those slippery bits and pieces are going to slide apart and I'll have to have the job done again...but properly this time £120 is more than the government give me in pension to live on each week.Wish I'd taken up joinery ...I'd be rich by now!!!"
