"Main problem was took 12 + weeks to do a job originally quoted as 3-4 weeks. Lot of the time only 2 men on site often finishing early and many days with no one at all! The quoting builder was hardly seen on site at all which may well have contributed to the slow pace of work never any sense of urgency to keep to the original timescale, like putting extra men on the job for more than the odd day when I complained the loudest! We had employed our own architects who supplied floor plans that the builders tendered on but then failed to produce the right full set of plans! The builder said he and the Council Building Control dept. were able to proceed just from the floorplan as the work was 'quite simple'. However the builders took a long time to decide on how best to do the roof over a bay window. This was a cause of yet more delay and a £3,000 rise in final price from the £17,000 originally quoted. We at long last now have our kitchen extension and porch but would have liked it a lot sooner rather than having the whole summer taken up with building work. I just feel we were having to deal with people who had just taken on too much. I felt I was having to manage the project myself with constant emails asking why so little seemed to get done with every day of disruption to our lives. "
