Property renovation in Llanishen
"Fantastic! This was the third quote we received for our job (knock out a supporting wall to create a kitchen/diner, move waste pipe outside, plaster, first fix, install kitchen and supply and fit laminate flooring throughout downstairs), the quote wasn't the cheapest but he was the only builder that filled us with the confidence that he could do the job. The quotes were £3k, £5k and £9k + kitchen to show the range we received! The expected length of the work ranged from 4 weeks through to 6 weeks (the £9k+ quote). A start date was agreed, but neither of us realised it was a Bank Holiday - but even then he said as it was agreed he was willing to work that day! (We declined his offer!) We were kept fully up-to-date with progress from Day 1 and I regularly dropped in during my lunch break to check on progress - which was swift by my untrained eye. They even rang me to tell me that he didn't need to remove and replace an upstairs wall that we thought was supported by the kitchen wall as it was on the reinforced joists. How many builders tell you they need to do LESS work??? And by not doing that it allowed us to get extra lighting in the new kitchen, a light outside and insulation between the ceiling and upstairs - and STILL come in on budget! Brilliant! The work was all completed a week ahead of schedule - although they couldn't supply the flooring and we had to source it ourselves fairly rapidly (but by doing this we saved ourselves a further £120). All-in-all we would have no hesitations in recommending them - we are even considering asking them to come round and quote us for our next job which we think is more in his line of expertise. In order to show a balanced view, the only negatives were the flooring not being able to be supplied, that we had to call the skip company to collect the skip off the drive, and that we STILL haven't received the GAS SAFE certificate (although the electrical one has arrived). But, in my opinion none of these are "end of the world" situations and can be (or were) simple to resolve. I can't speak highly enough of Matthew and his team - they're a credit to their trade! (And if you'd be interested in doing our decking, we'd be interested to speak to you! We'll be in touch soon!) "
