Wooden sash window repairs, installation and draft proofing in Hanover and Elm Grove
"I chose this company to make a new staircase as well, and then to fix our bay windows. We also got him to replace a doorframe that was crumbling. All we asked for was a traditional staircase to match the victorian ones in the rest of our victorian house. Nothing of the sort was done for us, the carpenter made a modern end post, some grooves in the side panelling which we didnt ask for, and the general craftsmanship was poor-ie joinery was patched up with glue, bits of wood to cover up mistakes, the end-post had a chunk cut away for no reason. We complained but wanted to work things out, the carpenter wasnt prepared to do this, and decided to end the job! We spoke to his assistant, who was prepared to work things out, but the main carpenter still wouldnt budge. The worst part was that by the evening, he was still there at 7pm, but had also removed the doorframe, and left it all open, totally unsecure to the front of the house, and wasnt going to finish it as it was late! We had to barricade the front door to stop people walking in, unbelievable! The carpenter was rude, showed no sympathy, no remorse, wasnt prepared to negotiate, irrational and unprofessional. Currently reporting him to the FMB, trading standards etc, as we have to find another carpenter. 3 carpenters have been since to inspect his work and were appalled by whats been left for us to deal with."

"Dean did a great job. He was really helpful in the planning of the job and brought some great ideas to the design of the bookcases that he built for us. They look better than we had ever imagined they would. Dean worked really hard and was really tidy. The room that he was working in looked tidier after he had cleared up than before he started the job! I would absolutely recommend him to anyone and will certainly be using him again."
