"Daniel does a great job on your floor, really thorough (eg he will remove radiators to get underneath them properly and sands between coats of varnish just like you're meant to) and he can do joinery jobs as well, like replacing poor condition floorboards, skirting boards and removing old hearths. The final finish was very good and I was very satisfied with it.
On the downside, his quotation for the job was way off the mark because he underestimated the time it would take and so it ended up being much too low. It is well to establish in advance with him how long he expects to hire machinery as that can prove very costly if it extends beyond more than a few days. The arrangements are that he hires the machinery and you pay him instalments as he goes along, as well as purchasing materials (if you can). It is a good idea to keep track of how much you pay him each time in order to see how the costs are progressing. Oh, and if you have neighbours, they can get annoyed when the work carries on late in the evening and it is messy!
So long as you give clear guidance on how long you want the job to take, you will not be disappointed with the result."

"This turned out to be a much bigger job than hoped, and involved repairs to the shower walls too. Charlie retiled the walls and put down new tiles on the floor, as well as completely taking out the shower cubicle, the floor in the area, drying it all out and putting in a new floor and shower cubicle. He kept costs reasonable (thank God!) and gave a lot of helpful advice, working as quickly as possible in the circumstances. I'd thoroughly recommend him. "
