"The job was: Removal of soil mound. about 100 cu.ft. of garden soil and some hardcore/stones. - Flagging about 60 sq.ft. - Gravel over about 150 sq.ft. Area now clear. Completed on 3rd Sept. at an agreed price of £600. My comments on the quality of workmanship are: Flagging – Satisfactory. Gravelling – Poor. A 3 inch cover of gravel was agreed. The cover varied from ZERO (weed blanket showing through) to a few inches; due to the lack of any ground preparation. Soil mound – Mostly removed. Remainder dumped over the area to be gravelled to leave it unacceptably rough, with large bumps, hollows and sharp edges of broken clay pipes protruding. Covered with weed blanket and gravel. Having paid in full for the work, I now have to lift the gravel and weed blanket, remove the surplus soil from under, dispose of it myself, prepare the ground and relay the gravel. This is unacceptable. I am very disappointed. "
