"We Cannot Recommend MG Plumbing and Heating
We found the two guys to be prompt, tidy and professional about the actual installation of the boiler and we are happy with this part of the job.
However, we had a very unsatisfactory experience with the roofer they subcontracted part of the installation of the flue to.
Our roof had undergone routine maintenance shortly before the installation of the boiler so we are fairly confident that it was in a sound state. The day after the boiler was installed, it became apparent that a large leak had appeared, near to the site of the flue and we drew the conclusion that it may have been caused by the work on the roof.
Over the next four weeks, we contacted MG Plumbing and Heating to try to get this problem fixed.
First we were told that the roofer would come out and repair it, then when he didn't appear that he had hurt his back, then that we should sort it out with him ourselves (despite it being MG's responsibility), and finally when he still didn't turn up (after his back had healed), that he denied having ever been near the site of the damage and that he would not fix it. At this point, MG refused to cover the cost of the damage, saying we would have to prove their responsibility in court.
We cannot prove that that the damage was done by their roofer, but we feel let down that they could not properly manage their subcontractor, and that they did not take our complaint in good faith.
We handed over a cheque for the job immediately after they finished (at their request) and before they left the house, so we have no means of withholding payment until a satisfactory conclusion is reached. We also have to get the roofer we normally use to repair the damage at our own expense.
I would avoid MG Plumbing and Heating in favour of a larger, more professional company.
