"This is a difficult one. Darren's a nice bloke, and in general did a good job of installing the central heating system quickly and efficiently, and responded well to any issues that there may have been, always coming back to try and sort it out. He's punctual and polite. However, there were a couple of things that need addressing. Firstly, quotations. When I asked for a quotation, it was on installing the boiler system and one would assume that it would include all of the legal requirements that go with installing a boiler/CH system like earthing the pipes and gas meter. However, this was not included in the quote (which I admit I should have read more carefuly, but it's more labour costs and since this was on the quote as a lump sum, hard to tell) as Darren is not a qualified electrician, and in my opinion it should have been included, even if to be done by a separate electrician. Darren has ageed to take the cost of earthing the pipes, but not the meter, although I'm still waiting for that to be done, so I think I'll sort it out myself. Secondly, and this is a minor point, was that things could have been left in a better state when they had left. There was some minor damage to a tile and a bit of the ceiling, dirty finger print marks on the wall. OK, some of this is to be expected I admit, it is a dirty job after all, but sheets could have been laid down, and in general more care could have been taken I think. Overall, if you want a boiler/CH system installed quickly and on time, and it's a development property, then Darren's your man. However, if it's your house, make sure they take care to protect it and read your quotation very carefully as to what it includes and doesn't. Like I said, Darren is polite and punctual, does the job within the time he's specified and is always very responsive to any problems you may have after the job is done, which is great as a lot of people wouldn't be, but I just think he needs to be clearer on the quotation regarding certain aspects, and be a bit more careful when working in other peoples houses."
