"When I saw the website with such favourable ratings I had high confidence that Ken and AK Plumbing would be professional, competent and reliable. Sadly my experiences could be classified as anything but favourable as I found him dishonest, unreliable and sloppy. He came to replace 2 heating elements (day and night) in an immersion tank as one of them had overheated. He did the job in 1.5 hours and was very much in a rush to leave without checking the cabling or socket to the night switch even though one would imagine any professional contractor does not need to be told that if the thermostat had overheated, they would as part of their normal mandate, ensure that the fuse itself and therefore electric socket had not blown also. These checks were never carried out, he was out of the door as soon as he had received his £200 in cash. I also noted that there was still a leak from the tank that he had stated would be repaired once the new element was installed. I therefore called him back and he agreed to return at 9.30am a few days later but that he probably would need to charge me an extra (£45-£50) fee for the electrics even though this should have been part of the original job scope. I waited in the apartment but he did not turn up, 1 hour and 3 unanswered phone calls later, including a call to his home whereupon his wife said he had 'left' his mobile at home but she would check his diary and call back. She never did. I decided therefore to leave a final voice message warning him that I would leave negative feedback on the website. Not surprisingly he did immediately return my phone call this time and alleged that he had been "locked in" within a customer compound and could not "get out", his car had also suddenly developed a problem. I decided to arrange for another electrician to repair the electrics at an additional cost of £40 and asked Ken to come back to repair the leak the following week at 10am as part of the guarantee, I called that morning to check if indeed he was coming and he said he thought the appointment was at 11am. Again he never turned up. I also asked for a receipt and guarantee which he agreed to post to me but not surprisingly I am still waiting for these to materialise. Despite the 'so-called' positive feedback on this website these are my own very real personal experiences of Ken and I would suggest anyone taking on his services to reconsider very carefully because despite his assertions that job satisfaction is key, in reality customer aftercare, satisfaction and reliability are non-existent once he has received payment (and all in cash)."

"William and George replied to my enquiry within minutes of posting it on the website and came the same evening to quote. Having already had quotes from a couple of local firms, I could see that they understood the job required, and their price was better, plus they could do the work the next day - so they got the commission! They did an excellent job, were completely professional, accurate and tidy, and were very pleasant people to have around the house for the day. The boiler is working very well, and I would be delighted to recommend them for similar work in the future. Many thanks!"
