"I had two windows removed and bricked up, a new window created, an internal wall knocked down, the old kitchen removed, new kitchen put in and a new toilet created under the stairs. I'm going to be brutally honest here so here goes: First the good - Mickey is a really nice guy, he's hard working, reliable and trusting. His builder Dave who helps him on the building work is the same and between them they are very knowledgable. They were considerate to our needs. They involved the building inspectors at an early stage and all the way through the build. If they weren't sure they'd contact me to explain/find out. They were willing to change things half way through when we changed our minds about stuff. The price was very good and Mickey only wanted a small amount up front, small payments throughout and most of the payment when it was complete. Now the not so good - unfortunately Mickey is TOO nice which means when it comes to him getting in other trades people sometimes they don't do as good a job as he expects but I don't think he takes them to task over it enough. This happened with us. He got a gas/electrician in who was slow, didn't turn up, complained, moaned, lied (he said he's 'sorted' a radiator that wasn't working when in fact it wasn't even connected to anything!!!), and also didn't do the greatest of jobs (the finishing was rubbish). He delayed the whole project by at least a week if not more and frustrated the whole build. Unfortunately, as I said to Mickey, if the electrics and gas aren't up to scratch it's his fault, they're not my contractors. It meant that I ended up having to project manage the final part of the build to get it finished when really it should have been Mickey. All in all I'd definately have Mickey back to do any small building work or kitchen fitting. However if it's a bigger project make sure the trades people Mickey uses are of a decent standard etc However definately get Mickey to give you a quote though."
