"Richard seemed like a nice man and had received really good reviews so I decided to go with him. We had just moved house so with 2 small children and chaos I was pleased when Richard said he could get me a really good shower at trade price for £180. He said, more than once, that it did not matter to him and that he would not make any money on it. I thought £180 was a little expensive for us but Richard said it was worth paying the extra as we would use it everyday and these showers cost nearly £300 in the shops. I agreed and Richard did the work. When I saw the shower I was a little disappointed as it did not look like an expensive shower to me. When I asked Richard he became quite defensive and at first maintained that it had cost him £180. However as I persisted, asking for a receipt etc, it became clear that this was not the case and that he was clearly making money. I would not have minded this if he had been honest with me. I then checked the cost of the shower via the internet as well as calling some local plumbers merchants. They quoted me from £75 plus VAT for that model up to £115 plus VAT. I therefore offered to pay £130 for the shower which Richard agreed with no argument. I therefore paid him this plus the labor as agreed. However I was not happy as the shower pipe was on the outside of the wall as opposed to buried within the wall but to be fair he had attempted to tell me this. I was just too preoccupied with the children to take this in. I will be getting somebody in to bury the pipes. I felt misled by Richard and I was quite upset by the whole thing as I am not confrontational at all. On this basis I could not recommend him and would not use him again."
