Wall coatings, plaster bonding and skimming in Maryhill Kelvin
"Totally unprofessional. They decided our carpet was “done” and didn’t put any dust sheets down. When we informed them that we were keeping the carpet and asked them to put some down, they brought in two tiny blankets and we supplied a couple of sheets of our own. This didn’t seem to help as the carpet was completely covered in plaster. "

"Completely unprofessional! Job was supposed to take two days but he rushed it in twelve hours, not sure why as we were happy for it to take 2 days. Didn’t put dust sheets down as they thought our carpet was “done”, when we asked them to they brought in 2 tiny blankets and we provided others, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. Took us 6 hours to scrub the carpet and get the plaster out, we still need to get it professionally cleaned. We asked for a discount to cover the carpet cleaning and he became threatening and aggressive. Now it has dried out we can see that it is an absolute mess and nowhere near the paint finish we were promised. We spent an entire day sanding it and then filling parts but it still looks rough especially in the corners and you can see many deep scores and scratches all over the place. We eventually asked another plasterer for advice, who after looking at it has told us that the finish is absolutely terrible and that we will either have to paper it or have it redone. We would have asked them to come back and sort it but after their attitude and aggressive behaviour we didn’t want them back in our house.
Also left a complete mess, doors, skirting boards, path outside covered in plaster and they discarded left over plaster and bags in a bucket round the corner from our house which our neighbours complained to us about.

"Firstly, it was not me that said that they should do the job in one day, it was there suggestion. They were eager to do this and did not leave until very late in order to do so. I am not a plasterer so I relied on their opinion that the hallway could be done in one day. I had no problem with them taking the two days to do the job, which they and the other plasterers that had quoted for the job had said it would take, and I was able to work from home for those two days. The dust sheets that they brought were actually blankets which only covered the top landing (at best) which as they needed to bring plaster though the downstairs hall and up the stairs were not adequate so I gave them some old bed sheets to try and cover the rest of the hall, but they were not enough. These sheets, when they were fully rolled out on the carpets, still left the downstairs hall uncovered. When they moved down stairs they did move the sheets with them. The dark spots on the carpet were not there before the work started. They were still wet when they finished. If they were oil then the plasterers did that somehow. However they were actually very wet plaster which I was able to remove from the carpet after an hour of scrubbing it with my vacuum cleaner. The carpets were brushed down by them (they really needed it) with a brush that I provided them with as the carpets were totally littered with bits of dried plaster at the end. I did not complain about the quality of work when they left as it was late, the hallway was dark and the plaster was wet so the problems with the work were not immediately obvious to me. Please refer to this link (http://picasaweb.google.com/cazhodge/Plastering) to see photographs of the work after they had left. In them you can see the ridges in the plaster, the dark spots in the carpet and plaster that had not been wiped off the skirting boards. Yes I did ask them for a reduction in price, not because I wanted the job for a lesser price, but because of the state they had left my hallway carpet in. I still need to get the carpet properly cleaned but I can only do this once the walls are in a state that is good for painting."
