How does it work?

  • Join and tell us what sort of work you're after and how far you want to travel.
  • Registered customers post their job.
  • We send you customer leads that match your skills and location via email and text.
  • Accept the leads you're interested in* and we'll pass on the customer contact details.
  • Now it's up to you to contact the customer and win the job.
  • Once the job is complete, remind your customer to rate you, if they haven't already done so.

Who can join?

If you believe in quality and good customer service then Rated People is the right place for you.
Join now and we'll help you build your reputation by building your ratings online.
Customers will often be more willing to pay you a good price if you have good ratings, and you'll get more work.

Is there a contract? No!

No, there is no contract
We do not ask you to agree to a contract term, membership is paid quarterly in advance.
To make sure you don't miss out on exciting customer leads, we'll automatically renew your membership for you.

How much is initial trial membership and what do I get?

£10 + VAT (15% VAT = £11.50)
This gives you 3 months' membership, 100 text alerts with customer leads and your first set of customer contact details.

Your membership will be automatically renewed each quarter.
The Text Alert Pack is automatically renewed when last alert used.
Once first set of customer contact details is used, future customer contact details are purchased at varying prices. To ensure you don't miss out on any exciting customer leads, we automatically renew your membership each quarter at the ongoing membership price.

How much is ongoing membership and what do I get?

£40 + VAT (15% VAT = £46.00) which gives you 3 months' membership
This includes:

  • A Rated People personal account
  • Email and online customer lead alerts
  • Phone and email support during business hours

To ensure you don't miss out on any exciting customer leads, we automatically renew your membership each quarter.

How much are customer leads?

Customer leads vary in price based on the size and scope, skills required and location of the customer.
We will send you the description and area of the lead and you decide whether to accept or decline that lead.
Once you accept a lead* we'll send you the customer's details and send the customer your details as well.

How much are text alerts?

  • 100 Text Alerts cost £10 + VAT (15% VAT = £11.50)
  • 1000 Text Alerts cost £80 + VAT (15% VAT = £92.00)
If you're opted in to the Text Alert Pack you'll receive text alerts to a mobile phone of your choice with available customer leads.
You can purchase a lead by replying with the code included in the text message we send you.

Replies are not charged by Rated People but will be charged by your service provider. You're opted into automatic text renewals upon your first purchase.

How do I pay?

We accept credit and debit cards and use an automated billing system which keeps costs to a minimum. We always let you know when the next membership payment will be taken and send you an itemised VAT invoice for every payment. Security is important to us, we encrypt all sensitive payment details and store them on our secure server.

What if I can't reach my customer?

We recommend you call your customer as soon as you've received their details.
However, sometimes your customer may be at work or otherwise unavailable. So, we suggest trying them a few times during the day, in the evening and on a weekend.
We also recommend you send them a message from your Diary. When you do that, we send them an email to let them know you're trying to get in touch.
If you've tried all of this and still haven't heard from them, get in touch with our Customer Support Team at support@ratedpeople.com, and we'll see what we can do.

How do I cancel membership?

Please call our Customer Support Team on 0870 220 8811, 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday (closed Bank Holidays) who will be happy to assist you.
Cancellation requests must be received at least 10 days prior to membership renewal.

Calls are charged at 6.73 pence per minute from a BT landline. Please be aware that you may be charged a connection fee and calls from other providers and calls from mobiles may be charged at a higher rate.

Can I cancel my trial membership and be refunded?

You may cancel within the first 14 days of your initial trial membership at which time all membership fees paid will be refunded in full.

Using Rated People

How do I choose work?

We send you customer leads based on what you've told us about your skills and location.
You decide whether to accept or decline that lead.

How do I get customer details?

Once you've accepted a customer lead we'll make your new customer's details available online.
We'll also send you an email and, if you have accepted your lead via text, we'll text you their details as well.

How do I get more or fewer customer leads?

If you adjust your skills set and maximum distance this will have an effect on how many customer leads we send you.

What if I'm busy?

If you're going through a busy period just let us know by setting the holiday period on your account.
You can find this in your contact details.
This turns off your text and email alerts, but you can still access your account and view customer leads online.

Please note that a holiday period does not suspend your account and you will still be charged quarterly for our services.

How do I accept a customer lead?

Online:

  • Open the customer lead either by clicking the link in the email we sent you, or online in your "My Customers" section of your account.
  • Check the details and click on "Will Quote"
  • You'll be asked to check your card details and update them if needs be. Once you've done this, click on "Purchase".
  • If you're using your free customer lead to purchase this lead, you'll not be asked to enter your card details
  • Your screen will refresh and you'll see the customer details.

By text:

  • Note down the unique four letter code for the customer lead you want to accept
  • Reply to the message with that code
  • We'll text you your new customer's details
  • If you don't have card details registered for payment, you may not be able to purchase the customer lead via text

I've accepted a customer lead, what now?

We recommend you call your customer as soon as possible to discuss the work opportunity.
If you can't reach them, try again at different times of the day and on a weekend as they might not be able to answer their phone in the first few instances.
Send them an email via your Diary to let them know you want to get in touch.

How many people can purchase a customer lead?

Never more than yourself and two others.

Text Alerts

What are text alerts and how much do they cost?

Text alerts are the best way to ensure you don't miss out on an exciting customer lead.

We send you text alerts of new customer leads as they become available.
You can reply back to that text to purchase the lead.
You can choose to opt out of this charged service.

Text alert packs are priced as follows:

  • 100 Text Alerts cost £10 + VAT (15% VAT = £11.50)
  • 1000 Text Alerts cost £80 + VAT (15% VAT = £92.00)

Replies are not charged by Rated People but will be charged by your service provider. You're opted in to automatic text renewals upon your first purchase.

It's a lot faster and more convenient as you can reply to the text to accept a lead.
We'll text back your new customer's details straight away.

Why am I not getting text alerts?

Texts are available to tradespeople who have given us their payment details. If you've submitted your card details then it may mean you've run out of text alerts.
Check your account and if you have text alerts available please email our Customer Service Team at support@ratedpeople.com for further assistance.

How do I top up my text alerts?

To top up manually, visit your Text Alerts page.
Choose the Text Alert Pack you wish to purchase and click "Buy Now"

To turn on auto-top up for text alerts visit your Text Alerts page.
Choose the Text Alert Pack you would like to automatically top up and click "Turn On or Off"
We will automatically renew your pack with the amount you've purchased when your Text Alerts reach zero.

You are placed on auto top up upon your first purchase from Rated People.

How do I stop getting text alerts?

To turn off automatic renewal of text alerts, go to your Text Alerts page
Ensure "No Auto Top Up" is selected
Then press the orange button titled "Turn on or Off" under the "Automatic Top Up" section.
We will continue to send you text alerts until your balance reaches zero

If you want to stop text alerts immediately, go to your Contact Details page and untick send me jobs via text.
Click the orange button titled "Confirm changes" and we will then stop sending you text alerts.

We do not offer pro-rate refunds on Text Alert Packs

Ratings

How do ratings work?

Ratings help to build good relationships and levels of trust.
The higher your rating the more chance you have of winning the job.
Once you complete a job, remind your customer to rate you - they can do this by logging in to their Rated People account.
Customers will be asked to rate you on quality, reliability and value for money and can also leave a comment for you.

What if a customer doesn't rate me?

On your Diary for that job you will see a button titled "Please Rate Me"
Click this button and a friendly reminder will be sent to your customer asking them to rate you.

How do I rate my customer?

On your Diary, once your customer has accepted your quote, you will see an orange star.
Click on that star and you can rate your customer in 3 separate categories:

  • Clear requirements - did they explain what they wanted clearly?
  • Good to work with - were they good to work with?
  • Reliable payment - how reliable were they at paying you?
After you've given them a rating you can elaborate on it in the comments box.
