Original: Hi, looking for an indicative quote for parts and labour, subject to a site visit for a formal quote, for general maintenance to the front of my house (1930s two story mid-terrace). Task involves removal of iron guttering (but not the downpipe) and replacement with plastic guttering, preparing and painting soffit, preparing and painting the external wall (combination of pebble dash, brick and wood), and provision of associated scaffolding. The soffit and wall is in fair condition and should not need any repairs. Access is over a cultivated garden so care will need to be taken with the plants. There is a concrete path alongside part of the base of the front of the house and a path to the front gate that the scaffolding might be able to be placed on. thanks Jeremy

- We have a repeating problem in our house in which the gutter on one side seems to overflow into the brickwork creating damp in the inside wall. The problem is made difficult due to the fact that the house is 3 stories and the gutter is in a difficult location (bordering a public park/shared wall with neighbour). The gutter is an old victorian system of having the gutter sit on top of the house wall, under the overhanging roof tiles. Over the years we have had the gutter and attached drain cleaned along with various quotes and theories but we want to get the issue solved finally. It may be that we simply need to clean the gutter more frequently to avoid blockages (there is an overhanging tree) or that there is some further work to do.
