Soldier bricks above window bay crack? in Margate Central

Job description:It's an older 1930 semi with soldier bricks over the windows in the bay. Windows were replaces several years ago. Only a sideways z shaped crack at the moment bout 5-8 mm but what does this mean and is it dangerous and how much to put right?
