Convert window to french doors and brick up existing doorway. in Worsley
Needed: Builder in Worsley, M28
Job submitted:Apr 9, 2008
Job description:Not sure about the category to put this under, it refers to reconfiguring an external wall with window and door. We would like to get quotes for the conversion of the external window and door in our kitchen to a single opening with sufficient space for a 3 door French Door kit as sold by Wickes/B&Q etc. The window is currently 1150mm wide which needs widening to ~1800mm with one edge to remain the same and the increase in size to come from cutting out the other edge. The existing single doorway next to one wall is to be bricked up. Ideally the frame and/or doors themselves would be fitted as well although we are happy to buy unless seriously advised against as we are working on a tight budget. The property is a 3 storey townhouse, approximately 15 years old with breeze block structure and brick skin, window openings on the floors above are wider than the proposed ground floor french doors. The room and floor is bare and not in use at present as being converted into a kitchen, directly outside is a paved patio providing a stable working area. Brickwork for the doorway should match the existing with as much as possible reclaimed from the window opening, we are happy to sit cleaning up the old bricks for re-use. Door kits being looked at are around £700 and will form part of the up to £2000 budget limit
Budget:£1,000 - £2,000
