Small patch of damp at base of downstairs chimney breast. Think chimney is closed but not vented. in Worsley

Job description:Unsure of the cause of the damp. It is just above the skirting board on one side of the front of the chimney breast. The chimney appears to have been closed off by the previous owner but they have only vented the chimney via the room above, there is no vent in the chimney breast that has the damp.
