Job description:I require a concrete raft base to be laid for a concrete sectional garage, approx 8ft x 22ft. I have already arranged a garage supplier, so this is just for the base. The garage will be a lean-to, attached to the gable end of my house, so will need to meet building regulations. I have already had an initial visit from Building Control, who have given advice. I have submitted a base design which, with some revisions, has been approved. The next step with them is for me to apply for a Building Notice. Building Control are to inspect the foundation before the concrete is poured. I am happy to liaise with Building Control. The base specification is as follows: * Concrete raft base, reinforced with steel mesh * 100mm concrete with deeper 600mm ‘toe’ to perimeter * Concrete laid over damp proof membrane, sand and suitable hardcore sub-base * Two private drains run under the site (One foul, one rainwater). Building Control have advised that the earth be dug from around the drainage pipes, the void filled with pea gravel and concrete lintels laid over to support the weight. The site has been cleared of any obstacles, including tree roots (a tree nearby was removed) and is just bare earth & clay. There is excellent access to the site and the work can be carried out any days of the week. Please quote for labour, all materials and clearance of any waste. Plans & pics available via email.
