Conservation area double-glazed box window report in St Margaret's

Needed: Carpenter / Joiner in St Margaret's, IP4

Job submitted:Mar 20, 2011

Job description:We had 5 new box sash windows installed last year in our Georgian home. They are custom made, double-glazed, cord & weighted and were made to satisfy the local conservation officer. However, the window frames are creaking under the weight of the glazing and the glazing bars are pulling apart in some places. Also they were not balanced properly so when the catch is undone, some of the top sashes lower slightly. Since these are very big windows, closing a top sash which is open is tricky. Either the sashes will have to be repaired or, as I think, replaced. We need a written report on the problems to provide our bank with. Please only reply if you are able to prepare such a report. Please provide your hourly rate for this type of work and whether you are VAT registered.

Budget:Under £250
