Job description:End terrace with outrigger roof at rear, in the alleyway behind the house (which is on our property and accessible from the street) the roof gutter down-pipe seems to go straight into the ground and frequently backs up in heavy rain. This is resulting in high levels of damp in the ground against the wall of the house which is damaging the mortar, therefore we'd like to put in a French drain or similar (based on advice from a builder) along the rear outrigger wall and a soakaway where the alley ends at the pavement, and also to ensure that the down pipe is going somewhere suitable. We've never had work of this nature carried out before so don't know what budget is required for this, but it really needs attention so the budget will be found!
