Needed: Drainage Specialist in Wollaston and Stourbridge Town, DY8
Job submitted:Feb 4, 2012
Job description:I am in the process of purchasing a Victorian terraced house and have had an offer accepted. I have just had the results of my survey (HomeBuyer Report) and there are areas of concern with the drainage. I have been asked to have the drainage inspected and quotes obtained. This is the quote from the survey: The property is believed to be connected to mains drainage. The above ground drainage pipes are plastic where visible. The below ground drainage is traditional clay where visible. There were no signs of leakage or blockage of the system but it should be maintained in the normal manner. Due to the age of the property, the underground drainage is likely to be original. Old drainage systems are prone to problems such as root damage, joint leakage and blockage. We therefore provide this warning so that you are fully appraised of the issues concerning drainage in a property of this age. In addition, given the small section of cracking to the front portion of the tunnel wall, we recommend a specialist drainage contractor investigates further before legal commitment to purchase to ensure that the underground pipes are not softening the soil adjacent to the wall. The rear gulleys should also be cleared. Please note, in view of this being for the purpose of legally proceeding with the purchase of this property, I am only looking for tradesmen who are able to provide FREE quotations.
