Job description:I want to replace a freestanding gas cooker with a dual-fuel. Before I buy the new cooker I want to be 90% sure that my current electrics are up to the job. I've got a 30a fuse in the fuse box. a cooker switch in the wall above the worktop but behind the cooker at the moment it is a normal double socket. With the electricity supply switched off I unscrewed the double socket plate and saw that the wires leading to it look much thicker than a normal double socket. from this description would you be 90% sure that all you'd need to do is swap the double socket for some kind of blanking/connection plate and connect the cooker. Or do you suspect that a there is a fair chance that it would have to be wired all the way back to the fuse box (costing lots more)?
Budget:I'm not sure
