Job description:I live in a 2nd. floor tenement flat. Factor has suggested that on my side of the building wires are not earthed properly into the main water supply. She also suggested the problem may lie within another flat but I have to check out my own before I can approach the other owners with confidence. There is a "problem" wall which has the bathroom on one side and the kitchen on the other. A new bathroom was installed in summer and the new heater was working well enough. I switched it on last week and it did not heat up. On one occasion around the same time I got a slight shock when I switched on the bathroom light. In the kitchen I had to stop using 2 points on the wall a couple of weeks ago because of the sparks after I switched on the kettle in one and the microwave in the other. I asked the builder in the summer to have a look at the points on the wall in the kitchen because sparks have happened before but he could not find anything wrong. A friend suggested that here may be water from the roof dripping down the wall cavity. It's an old building and for safety's sake I would like the electrics/wires to be checked out once and for all; this would also include the lounge and bedroom.
