Dimmer switch on up-light isn't working in Rodmell

Job description:We have a brass standard lamp with an up-light and seperate reading light. There is a dimmer control which controls the up -light and this has stopped working. The reading light still works. I have changed the bulb and fuse, but the light is still not working.
