Rcd switch tripped and wont reset in Chadderton

Job description:switched off electric fan oven and rcd switch tripped. this is not unusual as it is always a little eager to trip. switched all mcb's off and switched them back on in turn to isolate problem, however, rcd will still not reset. we currently have lights but no sockets
