Crackling switch in kitchen in Plympton Chaddlewood

Job description:There is a switch on my wall in the kitchen (i am not actually sure what it does!!). It is near where my kettle is so I am assuming so water has got inside and it has started crackling and when it was on I could see little sparks inside so I have now of course turned it off.
