Creating privacy in the garden in Oxton

Job description:The garden is currently fully fenced but only to the standard height. This leaves the garden fully exposed to view from our neighbours' gardens and houses. I would like to create privacy by adding to the height of the existing fences but with something that's nice to look at too! eg, trellis or any other solution you can think of. Naturally I want to stay within the regulations on planning etc. Thank you.
