Job description:The house is 8 Old Hill Crescent which is an extended semi. At the moment there is a loft hatch of normal size, about 2ft square, going up to loft which has been converted and has floor, walls, light, power, radiators, velux window etc. However access is only via a ladder leading up from the bedroom below which is about 7ft by 10ft and has no external window, just light coming down through hatch from the Velux window. I would like to rent the room out by using the loft as a sleeping area, with stairs, desk etc downstairs. I want to retain as much space as possible in the room below but it needs to be safe, with banisters etc and compliant to whatever building regs there are to allow this to be a proper rentable room. Not sure if I need planning permission for this. I am applying for HMO license. There are mains smoke detectors linked on ground and first floor and battery operated in loft.
