Job description:It appears to be damp penetration from the external walls. Having inspected the walls it is quite clear that the rendered finish has reached the end of its life as there are sizable cracks over the rear elevation. As render wears out small cracks develop in the surface, these cracks absorb water which, over the winter, freezes and expands forcing the cracks to open up. In this case the render appears to be letting rainwater penetrate the surface in sufficient quantities that it is causing dampness in the kitchen and bathroom.
