Hot water not circulating - possibly pump or 3-way valve broken in Great Tey

Job description:Heating was only reaching part of the house. We changed the motor in the 3-way valve. Then the hot water stopped working. Oil boiler fires up, and the pipe leading from the boiler gets hot, but no hot water reaches the tank. We wondered if it is the pump or faulty valve to blame?
