Replacement of expansion vessel on Albion hot water tank in Waterloo
Needed: Plumber in Waterloo, HD5
Job submitted:Jul 27, 2011
Job description:In December 2010 we had an overflowing overflow valve from the hot water tank (Albion SU1501) that was pouring water through the ceiling. We called a plumber and they came to look at the problem and determined it was the rubber in the expansion vessel that had perished whilst the system was drained down (as the house was empty for a few months whilst repossessed.) The tank was only 4 years old, as the house is newbuild. But they replaced the expansion vessel and the leaking stopped. However, gradually the hot water from the taps and bath etc was slowly getting more and more brown. We asked the same plumbers what to do to fix it, and they weren't sure what the problem was and recommended draining the system down - which we did. It didn't solve the problem, so we contacted Albion. Albion said that the because the plumbers had replaced a white expansion vessel for a red one, then that was what was causing the rust in the water. We have tried to get back in touch with the same plumbers but they won't respond to us. Therefore we need to get another plumber out ASAP, as Albion recommended we stop using the hot water tank immediately due to it posing a health risk. Please can someone help?
