Job description:RD XV47 DVD/HDD/Video fault I have the above model of Toshiba DVD/HDD/Video recorder and have a +RW DVD stuck in the drive. I had recorded on to it but not finalised it as I wanted to add another program. When I put it into the drive it told me there was an unformatted disk in there. After cleaning the DVD drive using a cleaning disk it could then see the existing programs but was unable to play them - usually this isn’t a problem whether or not the disk is finalised. I thought I would try to finalise this disk then try and read it in another DVD player, but it got stuck part-way through finalising and the only way to stop the finalisation process was to switch off and on again. Now it seems to be stuck in either the adjusting initial settings mode, or the start-up mode normally seen for a few minutes after taking the machine out of standby. It does sound like it’s trying to read or at least spin-up the DVD all the time so I've unplugged it for now. Any clues on whether this is something I can fix myself? Or if not many I have a quote of how much it will cost to repair and an estimate on how long it might take - if it's likely to take more that one visit, say new parts are needed. Many thanks Carole Gordon
