Job description:Recent survey of property detected high reading of dampness on entire party wall (incl chimney breast) in living room and side elevation wall in hallway from front door to stairs. Surveyor concerned adjacent floor timbers may also be affected. Survey also found evidency of horizontal and stepped brickwork cracking esp to front and rear elevations which he says are indicative of cavity wall tie failure. Both damp proofing and cavity wall insulation have been done in the past and we are waiting to find out of this work could be covered under the guarantee. However, the surveyor is concerned the company used may have cut corners and has highly recommended a couple of independent assessments and quotes to put it right. In process of buying property. Looking for contractors to do onsite visit to give fixed quote for the works pre-purchase. Must be able to provide independent testimonials and guarantees.
