Job description:Problem with two walls of a 19th century basement flat: a) is damp-stained but plaster is sound. b) is damp-stained and plaster is crumbling. a) approx. 1.5mx2.5m has concrete steps abutting to external face and damage to external render where the steps meet the wall - water ingress is evident here. Also rising damp is evident. b) approx. 1m x 2.5m is at right-angles to a) and is the bricked-up old entrance to a disused and very damp coal cellar. We would like a site visit to make a diagnosis of the possible causes of the damp, outline of best solutions, cost estimates and time-frame. Work can start as soon as convenient.
