Damp Patch to ceiling/wall to in Branksome West

Job description:We have a patch of damp on the ceiling and wall in the master bedroom. It is above/next to a chimney breast which has been removed from the loft upwards. After heavy periods of rain the wall is wet to touch but I cannot see any leak/water in the loft so I'm not sure where the water is coming from...possibly the soffit board?
