Repair or reinstatement of stone castellation (or parapets) on top of a bay window in a c.1900 house in Rutherglen
Needed: Stoneworker / Stonemason in Rutherglen, G73
Job submitted:Jul 1, 2009
Job description:Materials should match the existing stonework, which is the normal buff sandstone used in and around Glasgow c.1900. The total length of the castellation is probably only 3m and it is maybe 30cm high. It is on top of a bay window, maybe 3m off the ground so scaffolding will probably be required. The castellation is around a flat roof and some sort of drainage solution will have to be provided. Currently, the area is covered by some ugly looking roof felt. The first task would be to take that off and investigate what state the stone work is in underneath. From there, it will either be cleaning up what is there, repairing as necessary, or a full restoration or replacement. If too expensive then I might have to settle for something that improves on what I've got but falls short of what I want.
