Budget Under £250

Job Part of a wall has fallen - in total 85 bricks need redoing and coping put on top. We have cleaned about 75 bricks which can be reused.

Budget Under £500

Job Require brick wall to replace current concrete post/concrete panel/wood panel fence along front of house. Currently this is 3ft high, wall to be similar. There are 3 sections, garden gate and driveway between sections. Section lengths are as follows - 13ft, 10ft and 13ft (may wish to extend the wall to 14 or 15ft for this last section). Not looking for anything fancy, just a basic brick wall, but open to ideas for decoration/pattern.

Comment Stephen has done a very good job. The wall has been much admired by neighbours and passers by. Everything was tidied away at the end of the day and especially well at the end of the job. Having has such a good experience with Stephen I am now hoping to get more work done by him. andrew

Job The house is a traditional Salford mid terraced house approximately 100 years. In recent history (within last 20 years) paint has been applied which is now pealing in a number of locations. The property has bay windows to the front and rear of the property. In addition to this mortar joints have weathered as you would expect with a property of a certain age an no sign of any previous remedial work. The works include the following: The removal of paint to the external envelope both front and rear of the property which is approximately 65m2. I do acknowledge that until a sample removal has been carried out the options are not clear however I would if possible like to get to brickwork. The re pointing is to all courses (not including the chimney). Replacing any damaged bricks.

Comment Dave was challened with unprecedented weather conditions with August recording the largest rainfall in a generation and as such work took much longer than expected. The repointing work was carried out by Dave and during this time his reliability, quality of workmanship and consideration for the people living in the house was excellent. The paintwork was carried out by a sub contractor. At the start of the work we experienced reliability problems which were quickly addressed by Dave and avoidable delays to comletion minimised. All snags have been addressed within two days of issuing and the work is now fully complete. The finished product is excellent and think that Dave has done a fantastic job and would be happy to recommend Dave Bradley Preservations. Well done Dave. Steve

Job Ex tumble drier air vent needs bricking up which is about 15 cm by 15cm, which is about 50cm up from the ground floor. Front garden wall, a little bit of re-pointing is needed and two bricks have broken lose. A drain in the back garden needs a bit of mortar around it which has come away. Potential job for some brick work for a retainer wall in the front and back garden dependable on quote.

Job double skin,7 courses high,20 bricks long,brick on edge on top.wall has a curve. no piers.clean off bricks and rebuild.

Comment This just didn't go smoothly. First appointment Ross couldn't get here due to problems with his car. Then he wanted to come one evening, but I pointed out that he wouldn't be able to assess the work as it would be dark outside. The next week he turned up 2 hours too early - fortunately for him I was in. He gave me a quote which I accepted. Then the snow stopped him from starting the jobs. I did tell him he could wait and do the various jobs together, so I didn't pressure him, and admittedly we did have a very hard winter for outside work. But now that there's no reason why he can't start, he's texted me to say he's broken his wrist and won't be able to do the work. I give him the benfit of the doubt and put it down to an unlucky patch. But I obviously can't give him a recommendation. naomi

Job I'm looking for a bricklayer to rebuild the front boundary wall to a house that has been damaged by vehicle impact. The wall is double skinned 6.7m x 1m with a 2 brick wide square pillar 1.4m high at one end. The original copings have been saved to go back on top. Half the wall is still standing so this will need to be demolished first. You can quote materials and labour or just labour. Will pay up to £1250 (including materials, skip, etc). Must be able show that you can do a quality job and take pride in your work. If you can meet all the above this job is ready to start in Manchester (M21 postcode). A good job will lead to more work.
