Reviews of Builders in Abbey, Cambridge

Abbey, CB1

I'm not sure
The wall is between 2 downstairs rooms and is about 12 feet by 8 feet, including a door. Like I said, I'm pretty sure it's load bearing.
Dan's a nice guy, very reliable and did a great job. Highly recommended - I'd definitely use him again.

I'm not sure
I want to convert my kitchen to open plan by removing the separator wall between the kitchen and the living area. It is a brick wall and it seems that it might be load bearing. I need to know how much it will cost to put a replacement support and for carrying out the whole job.
Richard is a very reliable person and he's very efficient and finished the job on time. I'd recommend him for any building work.

We would like a wall between our dining room and kitchen taking out. We're not sure if this would require additional structurual work or not.

- a new access knocked through a brick wall into my kitchen. I do not believe that the wall is a supporting one. This access will require a glazed door. - a stud wall build to make a corridor, this will also require a doorway and can re-use an existing internal door.

Updated : We recently moved and need a few jobs doing in the flat, we have a solid concrete fireplace that we need removing and also a pantry-type large cupboard (floor to ceiling) built in to the kitchen that we'd like to be removed - non load bearing wall, as we are getting a new kitchen and need the space. The fireplace is just ugly, trust me i normally love them but this thing is hideous. Original : we have a solid concrete fireplace that we need removing, also a pantry in the kitchen - non load bearing wall. We would like someone who could remove and re-plaster over the fire place as we just want rid of the thing.

Loft conversion already half done just needs completing and building regs, remove both beams that stretch across the width of loft. Possible steels needed.

Abbey, CB5

Under £4,000
Replacement sunroof for existing conservatory/kitchen.....Black roof finish ( which I have seen in the glazing brochures ) and white inside...OR wood ..the roof design has to fit around the soil pipe. The roof will fit the entire space to the outer brick walls otherwise I would have prefered a Roof Lantern these designe are neat and perfect. the cottage (1818) roof possibly requires a design drawing to get a sympathetic finish. The walls are Ok - the original roof was not thought out for a great design yet has been and still is watertight since 1995! I have no idea of the cost of a replacement glass roof so have filled in the under £4000 figure
