"the builder turned up on time amd quoted £950 to replace small area of ceiling and artex it and to repair leaking flat garage roof. Agreed to do work for£750 cash which I agreed. The work was done promptly. However a light fitting which had to be disconneted to replace ceiling was not rewired correctly and tripped the fuses when turned off so light has to be left on all the time. The artex finish is very poor and needs retouching if not redoing. An electrian did come the following day to rewire the light fitting. The flat roof which cost £300 plus was 'pressured pointed' no other repair was done. Before paying the builder said if the roof still leaked would return and try different methods until the roof no longer leaked. After the roof was 'repaired' it still leaks in part and the builder did contact me and said that he would return to repair it. Last week contacted builder 3 times and left voice mail messages. Last Friday builder returned call but said he had to go and would call me back in five minutes, have received no return call a week later. Not sure what to do now and think £300 plus to still have a leaking roof is a bit much, more if I had paid by cheque. Not sure about relaibility of rated people now."

"Contacted builder immediately when roof leaked after repair. Actually spoke to him as the roof lwas leaking, and was told to mark on wall where roof was still leaking. Did not contact for more than week after despite my leaving voice mail messages. Yesterday some one was sent to try and rectify problem. Canno assess whether the roof still leaks as it depends of differne rain conditions and wind direction. There is to our knowledge no problems in this area with leaking flat roofs. Roof in question has not leaked for 12 years after its construction and the adjoining flat roof of neighbouring property has never leaked and was contructed at same time. The artexing is not good and can be viewed. Do not wish any further contact from this builder. Am disabled and suffering from ill health. Co-owner said if roof still problem will have new contractor to replace the whole roof and one who supllies his own ladders."
