Reviews of Builders in Waltham Forest, London

Hoe Street, E17

Under £15,000
I need a builder to reconfigure our kitchen, and install a toilet under the stairs. The kitchen element would involve blocking up one or more external doors, putting in double doors to the outside, possibly moving a boiler and radiator, and installing the new kitchen. The toilet would be in the current understairs cupboard, so would need to be Saniflo-type, with associated plumbing, a vent, boxing in meters, etc.
Pros: Started straight away Some hardworking, skilled workmen Good standard of electrics, plumbing and internal plastering Cheap! Cons: Poor project management: Paul hardly around, and didn't answer phone, so jobs not done, or done badly. Difficulty assembling Ikea kitchen Bad finishing: rendering and internal paintwork shoddy. Concrete 'patio' just poured over rubble in garden. Questionable practices: non-corgi guy moved boiler, and condensate drain not plumbed in. Took twice as long as quoted.

Single storey extension with flat roof and possibly a roof window. Large sliding doors at the back and a side window. Require central heating and electrics to be extended into the area. Also require matching floor tiles and decorations to blend in with existing kitchen. Planning permision not required as advised by the council. To be used as a dining area. Total area just less than 3m X 3m.
I found Ben and Mark to be very conscientious, friendly and honest builders. They also did an oustanding job and some little extras for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

I have a hole about 18 inches square, plus another couple about an inch in diameter in my ceiling repairing. I was burgled by people who got into the roofspace and kicked this hole from above through my ceiling. I need the holes sealing up, plastering over and painting.
Kevin did a great job- came round quickly to assess the job, offered a good quote and then he did a really professional job, left everything neat, tidy, and clean afterwards too. Have asked him for advice and quotes for further work I need doing already.

Four wall required as will be built against warehouse wall. Needs to be secure so probably breeze block construction. Rendering not required, but one coat of white. Door and vent required.
Good job completed on time to specification - great communication.

The house is Victorian semi. The chimney breast is approx. 63 inches wide and 108 inches high. The damp patch which is only noticeable when it rains covers a section approximately equivalent to one eighth of the chimney breast in the living room. It was the damp smell that made me look and notice the damp patch.
I'm very pleased with the quality of the work Glen and his team have done in repairing my roof to fix the problems causing the damp. As other satisfied customers have stated: M&G Industrial Roofing are punctual, professional, hard working, polite and friendly.

Reconfiguration of a small kitchen to involve blocking up a door, creating a new patio door, removing an old boiler and fitting a new boiler, replastering the walls, putting in a new ceiling and installing down lights, fitting a magnet kitchen.
I was very impressed with most of the contractors and the quality of the work and the pre sales assistance; they helped in every aspect of the design and purchase of the kitchen. The project did overrun which was in the most part not down to them but I did then feel I had to push to get it completed. I get the impression they are very busy but the administrators in the office go to a lot of effort to try and keep everything on track.

Remove existing entrance to utility room (1.25m x 3.55m), form new dry-lined partition. Cut out breeze block wall at other end of room, instal lintel, form new doorway and hang door.Remove existing floor and wall tiles. Remove temporary plastered areas ready for tiling. Remove existing WWP and lavatory pan and clear away. Blank off and seal existing drain services. Excavate for new drain service from new position adjacent to dry-lined partition to external existing manhole (which will need to be enlarged). Supply and lay new drain services for lavatory, washing machine and new sink (separate). Infill as necessary, then make good concrete paving and brickwork. Supply and fit new ceramic WWP, lavatory pan and new sink, including all services required. Make any necessary alterations to electrical services and ventilation through brick wall for repositioning washing machine and drier as directed.Make good (especially where electrical services run) and repaint ceiling. Retile floor and walls with tiles/floor coverings. We also need some tiling and a new ceiling in our shower room, plus redecorating.
Nic and Chris have done a great job of refurbishing our shower room and completely transformed our utility room. We are very pleased with the standard of their work and they were always careful to clean up any mess they made. They were flexible when we wanted to use our own materials and really cared about doing a great job for us. Because they are so good, they are very busy and they sometimes had to juggle their work for us with that for other clients, so the job took slightly longer than planned. Overall, we're really pleased with the results!
