The floorboards in a bedroom dip in one corner, with a gap opening up of about a centimetre between the bottom of the skirting board and the floorboards. It doesn't sound much, but the furniture there consequently has a pronounced tilt. I would like whatever is the root cause of this rectified.
Maz offered a very competitive quote, turned up at the right time and did a cracking job sorting out a dip in our floorboards. This was a job involving a great deal of hard graft, and Maz got stuck right in despite being full of a cold. He was friendly, professional and gave me some good advice on other bits and bobs around the house. I have asked him to quote for some other work that needs doing because of my experience with him today. I can recommend him without hesitation.

Damp chimney breast in lounge, assuming it is something to do with the chimney stack/flashings? Chimney needs capping? damp round windows (internal) minor pointing job? Bricking up 2 air vents.

We have had structural engineers drawings made up to knock the load bearing wall between our kitchen and dining room through and replace with two steels. In doing this we will also be looking to block up the existing kitchen door, install a new set of French doors in the dining room and install a new internal door to the new room. We need someone with experience in doing this type of job to carry out all the building work, plaster the new room and fit fixtures and fittings ready for the kitchen installers to come in and fit the new kitchen

We want to change two small bedrooms into one large bedroom by removing the internal wall joining the two rooms. We think the wall is a partition wall. The wall is approx 2.5 x 2.5 metres. A light switch and small radiator will have to be moved from one side of the wall.

This job has been put under "Builder" but specifically requires skills in plastering, joinery, plumbing and electrics. There are four rooms which require a good overhaul - skimming the walls and quite possibly boarding beforehand, false ceilings skimming, with dimmable downlighters, new electrical sockets, new radiators in three of the four rooms, and new skirting boards. The rooms are: 1. Lounge - about 5m x 4m, but with a complex outline, not just a straight rectangle, and the ceiling is at multiple levels. Will need boarding and false ceiling, and some new wiring for sockets and downlighters, but existing radiator to be retained. Work on this needs to be coordinated with my home cinema installer. 2. Back bedroom approx 3.5m x 4m, exising built-in wardrobes to be removed, walls skimmed, possibly boarded, false ceiling with dimmable downlighters, a little extra wiring, washbasin to be removed, new radiator and skirting. Door handles to be replaced with old-style bakelite 3. Front bedroom - approx 5m x 3.5m - rip out existing built-in wardrobes, board and skim (one wall has a previous damp problem), small false wall to conceal CH pipework, false ceiling with dimmable downlighters, two new radiators, new skirting, a little extra wiring 4. side bedroom - approx 2.5m x 2.5m - removal of existing built-in wardrobes including sink, skimming, false ceiling to include dimmable downlighters, new radiator and skirting. My measurements are only rough estimates.
This was an excellent piece of work, which thanks to myself kept growing in scope. Phillips Construction came along to quote for a few rooms to be skimmed, but but by the time I'd finished with them they'd done a knock-through, laid an oak floor, fitted and tiled the kitchen, and even done some decorating, as well as the plastering! From the very first stages of quoting, this company was honest and methodical. The price was very reasonable, and was well managed as the scope of the job expanded. Everything was done to a very high standard, and I was always consulted at every stage before any decisions were made. The materials used are always good quality sensible choices (i.e. not cheap and nasty), though the price was always reasonable, and there were no hidden surprises or unforeseen costs. All in all an exceptional job. As for the plastering - it's perfect - far better than any I've ever had done before!

2 bedroom victorian terraced house in Prestwick, Manchester has been on long-term rental. Needs renovating but in general good condition. Has suspened ceiling and fake rock wall downstairs - to be removed. Small kitchen to be replaced/updated. Leak from bay window flat roof and back wall damp probable roof/gutter problem - to be fixed. Old carpets/fitted wardrobe to be removed. Electrics to be checked and possibly upgraded. All to be made good and redecorated.
Shaun managed the renovation of the house with little input from me. Providing photo updates as the work progressed. He was friendly and reliable. Would use again. Many thanks.
