I am renovating my house this summer and am looking for a builder or team of people for the following list of jobs: - Removing old plaster and replastering kitchen ceiling (in 2 sections, 4x4m + 2.2x2.2m) due to old water damage. This may also include changing the lighting and checking the joists for any water damage. - Replacing current internal doors with fire doors (approx 8 doors) - Installing cooker hood vent/exhaust - Installing mains wired fire alarms - Fitting front security light (light already purchased) - New double glazing in several windows - Replacing shower tray - Possibly installing laminate flooring (quote wanted) - Possibly replacing front concrete driveway with brick (quote wanted) - Possibly replacing flat roof skylights (quote wanted). I would like this work to be completed by the end of August if possible, or at least the kitchen ceiling and fire doors. Krishan was polite, helpful and knowledgeable, I have already recommended him to a few friends. He turned up on time and gave good advice when I wasn't sure about the best thing to do. The house was built around 1900 in the typical pick & mix modular style. This house effectively has 3 blocks - it is double-fronted, with one block front to back and the other side-to-side. The third block, which contains the kitchen downstairs and 2 bathrooms upstairs, runs part way across the back of both the other blocks. At the moment, if one of the bathroom doors on the back landing is open, you get a perfect view of a toilet up the stairs from the front door. I want to move the bathroom door sideways (say 2 feet) so the view is of a wall instead. This in turn will mean moving the shower and a radiator, so we would take the opportunity to replace and redecorate the bathroom. So for a builder it's a very small job, but we would need all the trades to complete the whole room.
