2 bed flat......removal of wall between kitchen and living area to create open plan space and removal of wall / reconfiguration of doorways to enlarge bathroom.
Asked Steve to remove 2 walls in order to create open-plan living area, and enlarge a bathroom. Also to reconfigure some doorways and create a new one. The job has had to be done in two phases (my fault entirely), 1st phase has been completed as planned. Found Steve to be easy to work with, prompt, reliable and trustworthy. He was helpful and considerate, and also willing to go the extra mile, particularly regarding avoidance of disturbance to neighbours, wherever possible. Would definitely recommend.Alison
one room 8 ft x 8 ft. Chimney is in one corner only andin one room. After removal, underpin remaining brickwork in roof and possibly replace ceiling.
AM Remedial quoted competitively for the requested job and also for the fitting of the bathroom following the building work. They're a really great bunch of guys who always turn up when they say they're going to and can be left to get on with it. You might have to be prepared to confirm the detail of the quote for yourselves but what may be lacking in admin is made up for in the quality of the work.
We had to cover up well because the chimney removal was a dirty job but, having cleared up afterwards, there is no damage and no trace of work having taken place at all (outside of the bathroom) which is amazing given the nature of the job. The chimney stack was professionally underpinned and external walls were well insulated providing an original solution to the problem of a cold bathroom.
So far, (they've only finished today) we're delighted with the quality of everything - the building work was done professionally and as carefully and cleanly as possible, the new walls created perfect corners for the fitting of bath and shower, the plastering is amazing and the tiling extremely professional.

Existing cellar has had a sort of damp proof coating which has now degraded. There is some levels of Saltpetre in parts. The cellar is 3 x 12 metres and 2 metres height. Beneath the coating is part brick and part sandstone block.
I require the cementation coating to be removed and walls made sound and then coated in a cementation damp inhibitor. The space is used as a workshop therefor an ambient humidity of 50% would be a target.
Ideal timescale would be within 1 month.

Ground floor shower room measures approx. 2m x 2m. Room suffers from condensation and possible rising damp. Peter Cox have recommended to remove wc, hand basin and radiator, "hack off the affected plaster and strap the walls in pre-treated timbers before applying either a plastic type boarding or foil backed plasterboards and wall tiling." Reinstate wc, hand basin and radiator. Would possibly also require bigger, more effective (humidistat) extractor fan.

It is an upper tyneside flat that I am hoping to purchase. If I were to buy it I would be keen to extend the kitchen into the space where the bathroom currently is, and to move the bathroom into one of the bedrooms also at the rear of the property. Kitchen is 7'9" x 6'8" (2.36m x 2.03m), I am unsure of size of bathroom. The bedroom that I would like the bathroom in is 10'11" x 7'5" (3.33m max x 2.26m). I would like to view the property with a builder to obtain a quote before I put an offer in.
