need 1m surface drain fitted where two paths meet, the new drain would be about 1m from an existing drain. Access from the new to existing drain would involve lifting and refitting paving slabs
Steve did a great job installing a surface drain for me. He gave me a quotation and after the job was complete charged £40 less ! He is a friendly guy and I would not hesitate to use him again ( which I plan to do later on this year. ) Steve has contacts with other tradesmen which could make him a one stop person for larger jobs . On the whole 5 stars !kevin
Surface water not drainig away and collecting in sub floor space
Our cottage, built on a slight slope (200+ years old, and so with no damp course or proper brick foundations) in a village near Ulverston, is having a constant problem with water ingress. This seeps in through a combination of the ground floor and rear walls. There may be an issue with a spring or underground beck, or the water may simply be drain-off from the back garden, which is higher than the ground level of the cottage, although separated from it by a sunken, stone-lined pathway. Tanking as well as various changes to the drainage system at the back have been tried but with no lasting success. We are looking for a specialist who can diagnose and permanently cure the problem.
The cottage is normally tenanted but is currently empty awaiting this repair. I will be staying there for a week, beginning on July 21 to deal with this. For contact purposes, please note that as I live in Austria and this Rated People site needs a UK mobile phone number, I have given the mobile number of my son, Oliver Jinks. But he lives in London and knows very little about this problem. It would be better to contact me directly either by email .
