blocked waste pipe, water backs up when you flush upstairs toilet. It is a partial blockage as water level slowly goes down.
Timing: ASAP
The plumber was considerate, friendly and informative. Worked hard to locate the blockage, and was value for money. I would recommend them to friends and nieghbours

There is a very strong horrible smell coming form the main waste pipe behind my kitchen sink. The smell is coming from the ground where the plastic pipe fits into the clay(?) collar. There is broken cement all around the pipe but it is dry and there is no sign of a leak. We have filled these gaps at the moment with expanding foam which seems to have stopped the smell so we can at least live in the house!! We are not sure if the smell is coming from around the pipe where the gaps are or from a crack in the pipe. This is what we need to find out. The smell seems to come in 'whafts' going from slight to very strong.
Kevin worked tirelessly for 4 hours sorting out our drainage problem. He went way beyond what we had called him out for and offered a huge amount of really good advice. We thought the service he provided was excellent. What this man doesnt know about drainage isn't worth knowing!! Many thanks.

The supply pipe is supplying around 9 different houses though.
That's about it for details, I've called Veolia but that cannot give any more info.
