Three small jobs: 1) Replace a hanging ceiling light fitting which has has the plastic part that holds the bulb damaged but is otherwise working fine. 2) Fix a small spotlight that seems to have some problems - the other spotlights in the room work but, even with a new bulb, this one doesn't. 3) Fix a small wall-mounted lamp where the lights flicker intermittently

We live in a modern (2001 build) top floor (2nd floor) flat with an insulated loft above to which we have access. The flat is in N1 (Islington). We would like a NICEIC registered electrician to quote to install some recessed halogen lighting in the kitchen (5 lamps) and hallway (4 lamps). At present there is, in the hallway, a single normal pendant ceiling light and, in the kitchen there is a large (approx 4 ft) fluorescent tube fitting - both are currently in good condition. We would like quotes for: 1. Work to kitchen only. 2. Work to kitchen and hallway together. 3. Cost to swap a single gang light switch to a dimmer. The washing machine and dishwasher both started shorting out yesterday. I could hear a buzzing noise coming from the switch in the dish cubbard. I turned both of the appliances off. I was unable to turn the switch off. It was extremely hot to the touch. Even after I let it cool down, the switch seems to be stuck in the on position. There was also a terrible fishy, burning smell coming from the switch. Now, neither the dishwasher nor the washing machine will turn on. I checked the breaker box but nothing has tripped.
